A Acronis Case Study
The University of Aberdeen, a research-led university managing 1,700 publicly accessible PCs and over 250 software applications, faced growing complexity and security risk from annual updates and locally installed software. Legacy imaging tools limited master images to 4GB, forcing time-consuming workarounds and hampering the IT team’s ability to deploy consistent, up-to-date environments—so the university trialed Acronis Snap Deploy to address these challenges.
Acronis implemented Snap Deploy across the estate, removing image size limits and simplifying rollouts; the team bought 200 licenses and later added 1,800 more. As a result, imaging time was cut from up to two hours to just under one hour per PC, saving the university up to 10 weeks of IT deployment time each year, reducing downtime during refresh cycles and improving overall IT productivity.
