A Acronis Case Study
SailGP, the international inshore racing league, needed a way to capture, translate and subtitle athlete and commentator conversations in real time while also monitoring speech for safety and compliance — including detection of banned phrases and “hot words.” In 2020 SailGP partnered with Acronis (alongside Rolos) to develop a machine‑intelligence voice‑recognition solution to bring live onboard audio to fans worldwide and to support safety and regulatory monitoring.
Acronis delivered a cloud‑based, multitier MI voice‑recognition platform that provides real‑time speech‑to‑text (0.1–1s latency), multi‑language translation, live broadcast subtitle integration, hot‑word detection and APIs for third‑party integration, plus historical audio analytics. The system processes about 25 GB of audio per practice/race day and ~58.9k phrases per race, boosting fan engagement with live athlete and commentator audio, improving safety and compliance through instant alerts, and enabling deeper post‑race data analysis to sharpen competitive performance.
