Ready Honda Recovers from Ransomware with Acronis

Ready Honda, a long-established car dealership in Mississauga, faced increasing risk of downtime and data loss after migrating its servers to a virtual environment and finding its previous Symantec Backup Exec solution no longer cost-effective. The dealership needed a comprehensive cyber protection solution with private-cloud backup storage, quick recovery, centralized management and flexible licensing, and selected Acronis—deploying Acronis Backup alongside a private storage server to protect its VMware virtual machines.

Acronis installed Acronis Backup on a Windows Storage Server connected via VMware vCenter, using image-based backups, a centralized dashboard and the ability to boot VMs directly from backups. When ransomware struck, Ready Honda erased the infected VM and recovered from Acronis backups in under two hours (with VMs able to run from backup in less than 60 seconds), avoiding paying a ransom, meeting its RTO of <4 hours, and gaining faster recovery, simpler management and cost-effective licensing.
