Johnson Electric Quadruples Backup Speed and Blocks Ransomware with Acronis

Johnson Electric, a global manufacturer of motors and micro-electronics, was struggling with aging backup tools (Arcserve), growing data volumes and compliance needs, and a series of ransomware attacks that caused more than 30 hours of downtime and impacted over 3 TB of data. To modernize and harden its protection, Johnson Electric turned to Acronis and its backup solutions (Acronis Backup / Backup Advanced edition) to replace the legacy system and address malware, scalability and bare‑metal recovery requirements.

Acronis deployed Backup Advanced across six sites, protecting 20+ physical and virtual endpoints and more than 20 TB with deduplication, automated on‑ and off‑site backups, bare‑metal recovery, AI‑based Acronis Active Protection and Acronis Notary for future blockchain authentication. The result: backup speeds improved fourfold (full backups from 8 hours to 2 hours), tape backups reduced to 5 hours, deployment cost just one‑sixth of competitors, and Johnson Electric has experienced no further ransomware incidents since switching to Acronis.
