Lions Cricket Union, which operates Johannesburg’s DP World Wanderers Stadium, needed to protect sensitive fan, tenant, and operational data while supporting a year-round “smart stadium” environment with 5G, public Wi‑Fi, and new digital fan services. To improve data protection, speed up recovery, and safeguard POPIA-regulated information, they turned to Acronis through managed service provider MRB Secure, using Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud and Advanced Backup for workstations and Microsoft 365 data.

Acronis, delivered via MRB Secure, deployed backup across about 4TB of data on 32 workstations and cloud workloads, enabling point-in-time recovery, multiple backup copies, and easier management. The result was a 50% improvement in both RTO and RPO, faster workstation recovery, less disruption for employees, and the ability to restore even a legacy bespoke system by virtualizing an old machine image.
