Leica Geosystems AG, a Swiss manufacturer of surveying instruments, faced inconsistent technical documentation written by many editors (often non-native English speakers). The company needed to standardize terminology, establish stylistic consistency, create an English-based corporate language, improve source-text quality, and reduce translation costs. To meet these goals Leica engaged Acrolinx and integrated the XML-based TIM‑RS content management system together with Acrolinx’s language-quality tools.

Using Acrolinx, Leica built and now maintains a terminology database of more than 16,000 entries (with English, German, French and Spanish equivalents), defined style and grammar rules, and gave writers enterprise-wide access via the Acrolinx Termbrowser. Acrolinx’s solution enabled translation-ready writing, consistent multi-language terminology, higher-quality public communication, measurable translation-cost savings, and reduced product liability risk through clearer documentation.
