Precision Security worked with acre security to upgrade communications for a toll booth on Ireland’s M1 highway, a critical 80km route linking Dublin and Belfast. The challenge was to support a fully automated night-time operation from a control plaza 6.2km away, which required reliable video and data transmission over a long fiber link.

acre security implemented its SPC platform with multi-mode fiber units and data transceivers to convert RS485 signals to optical and back, extending communication beyond the limits of the existing setup. The out-of-the-box solution replaced the legacy system, delivered reliable real-time monitoring between the toll booth and control center, and allowed the security team to operate the site 24/7; Precision Security noted the system was working well beyond its stated 4km threshold.
