ComNet fiber units team up with Vanderbilt’s SPC to lay down a marker

Precision Security faced a nighttime security challenge linking an automated toll booth and a plaza across a 6.2 km span so Vanderbilt SPC intruder alarms and video could be monitored together. To solve the long-distance connectivity problem, acre security supplied ComNet FDX60 multimode fiber data transceivers (used to convert SPC X‑Bus RS485 signals to optical and back) to replace the legacy Europlex/IFS fiber drivers.

acre security implemented a single pair of ComNet FDX60 units to carry simplex/duplex RS232/RS422/RS485 data over multimode fiber, restoring SPC communications and eliminating the previous requirement for duplicate fiber runs. The result: reliable operation beyond the FDX60’s 4.5 km rating to cover the full 6.2 km link, simplified installation, and restored alarm/video monitoring across the sites.
