How data strategy improved Kinross Gold’s business

Kinross Gold Corporation, a global gold mining company, wanted a more consistent and formal way to assess how geoscientific information was managed across four mines. Working with acQuire, the company looked to improve data entry efficiency, QA/QC consistency, and the security and cost of managing critical geoscientific data used for resource and reserve decisions.

acQuire carried out an interview-based assessment using a structured GIM maturity framework across sites in Russia, Brazil, and Mauritania, evaluating people, processes, and technology rather than the data itself. The results gave Kinross Gold a clearer view of GIM maturity across the business, helped standardize practices, and informed improvements already underway, including a new grade control GIM system at one site and an upcoming system upgrade at another.
