The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world’s largest voluntary health agency for blood cancer with 59 U.S. chapters, relied on a desktop-only, unsupported CMS that made content updates difficult and produced high mobile bounce rates—threatening donation conversion and frustrating local chapter editors. Cost constraints pushed LLS to pursue an open-source solution that would deliver a modern, responsive experience across devices and simplify content management.
Working with Centric Digital and Acquia, LLS rebuilt LLS.org on Drupal/Acquia in nine months, giving all chapters a centralized, easier-to-use CMS and a responsive site that works on smartphones and tablets. Within a month of launch sessions rose 20% overall, mobile sessions grew 90% and tablet traffic increased 24%; mobile bounce fell 14% and mobile pages per session rose 15%. LLS is now consolidating campaign sites and adding features to drive revenue and streamline brand management.
