A Acquia Case Study
Singapore Management University (SMU), a 8,000‑student institution in Singapore, needed to replace an aging Web content management system that struggled to manage content from more than 30 faculties and administrative units. The university sought a scalable, user-friendly platform to improve usability, campaign visibility and long‑term costs, and chose Drupal—with Acquia support—for its flexibility and proven success at peer institutions.
SMU migrated its sites to Drupal on Acquia Cloud (hosted on AWS Singapore), implemented a responsive design and gave about 50 distributed content contributors easy tools to update pages and track campaign impact. The move delivered a mobile‑ready experience, stronger collaboration between marketing and IT, and major cost savings—SMU estimates the total cost of ownership will be roughly one quarter of its previous commercial system—while benefiting from ongoing innovation in the Drupal community.
