Shared Value Initiative Connects Business, Social Sector in Pursuit of Shared Value Strategies

The Shared Value Initiative, a nonprofit launched by FSG and a global network of funders to promote corporate shared value strategies, needed a global online community to connect companies, civil society and government and to accelerate knowledge sharing. Lacking a website, the Initiative and agency Genuine Interactive faced the twin challenges of building awareness and momentum while creating a seamless sign-up and commenting experience that encouraged members to contribute without leaving the conversation.

Genuine Interactive implemented Drupal Commons on Acquia Cloud to deliver a responsive community platform with in-line commenting, resource submission, interest groups and social-profile linking. The site drove rapid engagement—more than 1,000 members in roughly ten weeks, an average visit time of over five minutes—and generated lively, ongoing discussions and organic sharing of guides, white papers and best practices.
