A Acquia Case Study
Sealed Air, the Fortune 500 maker of Bubble Wrap and other packaging and hygiene products, faced a stalled redesign of its internet and intranet because its legacy, proprietary CMS couldn’t scale or support the rapid application development the business required. Leadership needed an enterprise-ready platform that could be deployed quickly, support global localization, and enable agile development across internal teams and external contributors.
Sealed Air adopted a “Drupal First” approach on the Acquia platform—combining open-source Drupal, managed crowdsourcing of developers, and Acquia’s full-service, application-level hosting and SLAs—to rebuild its digital estate. The new platform delivered the initial phase in about eight weeks at roughly 50% of projected cost, relaunched the internet and intranet (Dec 2014/Jan 2015), consolidated internal resources, introduced social collaboration, and drove substantial gains in traffic, transactions, revenue, engagement and scalable global rollouts.
