Roger Williams University modernizes web presence with Acquia and OHO Interactive

Roger Williams University, a Rhode Island institution serving prospective students, faculty and alumni, needed a more reliable, scalable web presence after its proprietary CMS became outdated. The primary challenge was building a site that would stay online and reduce operational burden while unifying nearly 25,000 pages across about 100 department microsites under a single, modern platform.

OHO Interactive rebuilt the site on Drupal and Acquia provided Managed Cloud hosting and support; Drupal’s Organic Groups centralized subsites and the Revisions module enabled editorial workflow. Launched in September 2011, the new site delivered stronger uptime, easier content management, permissions and workflows (100% of legacy CMS users preferred the new system), and Acquia’s monitoring and support gave RWU valuable performance visibility and operational efficiencies.
