KSF Media Engages Next Generation of Readership with Drupal

KSF Media, publisher of Swedish‑language newspapers in Finland including Hufvudstadsbladet and several regional titles, formed in 2008 to centralize non‑editorial functions and accelerate digital publishing as readers moved online. With each paper running different, often proprietary systems and a tiny technical team of three, KSF Media struggled to maintain hosting, backups, search and development work and needed to standardize on a flexible platform—choosing Drupal in 2009—but still lacked the operational resources to scale.

In June 2011 KSF Media migrated hbl.fi to Acquia Cloud and began using Acquia’s 24/7 Drupal‑specific support and “Advisory Support” hours, giving Acquia direct access to manage operations and assist with best‑practice guidance. The move freed the internal team to focus on user experience and new services, enabled a phased migration of all news and subscription sites to Acquia, avoided hiring costly specialists, and delivered faster, more reliable site operations.
