Environment America wins big for its members with Palantir.net and Acquia

Environment America, a federation of state and national environmental advocacy organizations with about 1,000,000 members, was managing 61 separate websites (two national and 29 sets of state organizations). The siloed setup was costly and hard to maintain, required a way to share content between federal and state sites, and the group lacked internal server resources and affordable hosting.

Palantir.net implemented Drupal’s Domain Access module and Acquia provided Managed Cloud hosting so all sites run from a single Drupal installation and database. The solution preserved consistent branding while allowing state-specific customization, cut hosting/training/support costs, reduced dozens of databases to one, sped new site launches from a month to about a week, and freed the small web team to focus on advocacy.
