Acquia Helps American Red Cross Bring Its Disaster Preparedness Teams Together Through Global Platform

The Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC), working with the American Red Cross and 189 partners, needed a resilient, agile website to enable open collaboration among disaster preparedness practitioners worldwide. Research showed existing CMS options and internal Red Cross platforms lacked the moderation, crowdsourcing, multilingual support and community features required to share field experience, solicit expert answers, and amplify impact.

GDPC chose Acquia, Drupal and partner ForumOne to build PrepareCenter.org on Acquia Cloud, delivering a scalable open-source community platform with a resource library, Ask Community, moderation tools and topic ownership. Since launch, the site has connected thousands of preparedness professionals globally, increased resource sharing and peer support, and benefits from ongoing Acquia and Drupal community support for continued growth.
