Cancer Research UK, the UK’s leading cancer charity, partnered with Channel 4 on the Stand Up To Cancer live TV fundraising events and needed a microsite (standuptocancer.org.uk) that could support content sharing and handle a huge spike in traffic during the broadcasts.
Acquia developed and hosted a Drupal-based microsite on its fully managed, Drupal-optimised Acquia Cloud and provided specialist technical support during the live shows, letting the charity focus on audience engagement. The pilot in 2012 raised over £8m and the subsequent campaign achieved £15,585,444.15, validating the open-source Drupal approach and the Acquia partnership.
