A Acquia DAM Case Study
YMCA England & Wales — the founding movement for YMCAs in the region, with 101 local YMCAs and over 90 charity shops — faced inconsistent branding across locations. Professional assets existed but were buried in shared folders, and many sites without in-house designers were creating off-brand materials, undermining the organization’s cohesion and reach. Their goals were clear: centralize assets, enforce brand standards, enable non-designers, and allow easy localization.
In 2018 they implemented the Widen Collective (Assets, Templates, Insights) to create a single, searchable digital library and on-brand templates that local staff can customize. The platform now houses 3k+ assets and has driven 229k+ views and 7k+ downloads in the past year, delivering consistent branding across channels, empowering non-designers to produce professional collateral, saving brand-team time, and helping YMCA England & Wales set a positive example for YMCAs globally.
