San Francisco International Airport - Customer Case Study

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) implemented the Widen Collective DAM to centralize marketing and creative assets, but inconsistent metadata, no governance or administrator, scattered files, and poor user adoption left the system underused and ineffective. Six years later Brand Manager Robin Brown was tasked with overhauling the broken site and making the DAM a dependable resource for the organization.

Robin led a phased rebuild: creating a governance “DAM Bible,” updating the metadata schema, auditing and archiving 20,000 untagged assets, rebranding the interface, adding SSO, simplifying conversion formats, and building training and engagement programs (e.g., Upload Fridays). The result: a curated asset rollout for the new terminal, the top downloads coming from that collection, a 498% increase in downloads year-over-year and a 12% rise in users, plus steady growth in internal activity and positive stakeholder feedback.
