A Acquia DAM Case Study
Mecklenburg County, a North Carolina government organization serving a diverse population, faced an outdated CMS that made it hard for departments to author content, share assets, and deliver accessible, modern web experiences. The County needed separate departmental sites with a mix of centrally managed and locally authored content, intuitive cross-site content sharing, and support for both the US Web Design System (for accessibility) and an author-optimized component/editor for the library.
Partnering with Perficient, Mecklenburg deployed a solution built on the Acquia platform—including Campaign Studio, Site Factory with Datum, Site Studio, Content Hub and Acquia DAM—plus a USWDS-based design system and component library. The library runs on a separate Drupal instance integrated with BiblioCommons, while Content Hub and DAM enable centralized content and media across 50+ sites. The result: modern, accessible, user-centric websites with robust search, improved Core Web Vitals, easier authoring, reduced maintenance, and a unified, evolving digital experience.
