How a DAM system cleanup helped Kerry boost users by 270%

Kerry Ingredients, a global food‑and‑beverage company with ~23,000 employees across 26 countries, was struggling with an underused Widen DAM: metadata was sparse and inconsistent, roles and permissions matched unclear asset groups, and employees were resorting to Google and low‑quality screen grabs. In 2016 Kerry brought in consultant Courtney Roe and a new global admin to diagnose why users avoided the system and to define a clear purpose for the DAM.

Courtney led a nine‑month cleanup that established a purpose statement, ran a user‑centered metadata workshop, reorganized asset groups and permissions, implemented upload/tagging workflows, redesigned the dashboard, and built Insights and handoff/training materials. The result: active users grew to 400 (a 270% net increase), on‑brand assets rose 219% (to 2,031), monthly downloads jumped 134% immediately and later showed a 507% year‑over‑year increase — transforming the Collective into a trusted, well‑adopted resource.
