Arriva UK Bus, one of the UK’s largest transport brands operating 5,900 buses, needed to modernize a fragmented digital estate—multiple regional sites, separate planning and retail apps, outdated EpiServer platforms, PCI issues and poor scalability—so it could drive a channel shift from cash to digital, improve operational efficiency, customer insight and cross-sell opportunities.

Working with ORM Digital, Arriva consolidated its ecosystem onto Acquia Cloud Platform and Drupal with headless APIs and Acquia DAM, integrated partners for journey data, payments and support, and validated designs through guerrilla testing and persona-driven journeys. The single app and website launched in August 2020 and delivered immediate impact: seven-figure revenues, a 30% channel shift in month one, over 1 million visits by month two and growth to roughly 2.6–3 million users per month with revenues up 32% year‑over‑year.
