United States Marine Corps - Customer Case Study

Acoustic Technology, Inc. (ATI) was contracted by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) to deploy an indoor Mass Notification System (MNS). The challenge was to bring a GSA building into compliance with Department of Defense anti-terrorism standards by providing a system capable of delivering real-time, intelligible voice communications and visual alerts, including interfaces with the existing fire alarm and public address systems.

The solution implemented by ATI included a central Control Station with MassAlert™ software, five powerful Indoor Speaker Units (ISUs), and a network of speakers and strobes. A key feature was a hardwired communication link to temporarily override the building's fire alarm during an alert. For measurable results, a Government Acceptance Test confirmed the system's voice intelligibility exceeded the required UFC and NFPA 72 standards, achieving a Common Intelligibility Score (CIS) greater than 0.7 throughout the designated areas.
