Hudson County - Customer Case Study

Hudson County, charged with protecting a dense portion of the New York metropolitan area, needed a reliable public alert system to warn residents of major emergencies. The county awarded the project to Kevco Electric and Acoustic Technology, Inc., funded by a 2006 Homeland Security contract, to deploy an emergency warning system consisting of 31 electronic high‑powered sirens capable of delivering warning tones and voice messages.

Acoustic Technology, Inc. designed and implemented the solution using its acoustic model and GIS to site 31 sirens at key transportation hubs and populated areas, and equipped the system with wireless RF activation from two independent control centers, a high‑security communication scheme, DC power with solar charging, and FEMA/OSHA‑compliant noise optimization. The result is countywide coverage of critical locations with secure, redundant activation and reduced AC‑power failure risk—31 sirens were installed and the project was completed in January 2009.
