Dane County Emergency Management - Customer Case Study

Dane County Emergency Management needed to modernize its aging siren control and warning system into a 21st‑century mass notification system without replacing existing sirens. Acoustic Technology, Inc. (ATI Systems), working with Alerting Solutions, Inc., was engaged to retrofit the county’s infrastructure using ATI Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and MassAlert® software to add remote control, monitoring and multi‑channel alerting capabilities.

Acoustic Technology, Inc. retrofitted all 123 existing sirens with RTUs, installed central and mobile control units running MassAlert®, and integrated with ASI’s CAP Server and IPAWS to enable GIS‑based, targeted alerts and simultaneous delivery via SMS, email, phone, web, social media, EAS/CMAS and weather radio. By upgrading rather than replacing hardware, the county preserved assets, gained two‑way status reporting to cut maintenance trips and downtime, and achieved more precise, redundant and cost‑effective emergency notifications.
