Measuring Resource Consumption of Real Estate With Intelligent Document Processing

Allianz Real Estate Suisse AG worked with Acodis to tackle the challenge of extracting consumption data from around 6,000 energy bills per year across 300 properties. Because the bills came from 96 different energy suppliers and varied widely in layout and structure, manual processing was time-consuming, repetitive, and prone to errors. Acodis used its intelligent document processing and data extraction software to classify and capture the relevant information.

Acodis implemented a pipeline that combined text recognition, classification, data extraction, analysis, and database storage, first covering the six largest energy providers, which represented 50% of the documents. Allianz Real Estate then continued with Acodis as a SaaS service to process additional bills on demand. The result was automated evaluation of building energy consumption, enabling better CO2 tracking, resource savings, and a stronger foundation for sustainable real estate management.
