A ACL Case Study
Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (HLR America), the North American subsidiary of Hannover Re Group, manages large volumes of life and health reinsurance transactions and needed to ensure client reports were accurate, complete, and compliant with corporate risk-retention mandates. The audit team faced thousands of paper reports and a mix of electronic file formats, making detailed, efficient analysis of millions of transactions difficult.
By implementing ACL data analysis software, HLR America gained a bottom‑up, file‑agnostic way to drill into individual premiums, claims, and expenses and achieve full transaction visibility. This enabled faster, more accurate cost‑recovery audits, stronger risk identification, and better client service — resulting in the recovery of US$10 million in net overpayments over three years (including a rapid detection of over $1.5M in one case) and the ability to identify underpayments and monitor risk exposure across more than 700,000 records.
