A ACL Case Study
The Audit Office of New South Wales, which conducts financial, performance and compliance audits for state government agencies and serves about 500 clients, needed to move from ad-hoc, laptop-based analytics to a managed, consistent and secure data-analysis capability. Information Systems Audit sought greater procedural consistency, stronger data management and faster processing while protecting sensitive client files and reducing duplicated effort across the organisation.
By implementing ACL Analytics Exchange with implementation and training support from Satori Group, the Office deployed a server-based, permissioned central repository and trained auditors to use repeatable, approved analytics. Goals that were expected to take up to three years were met in under 12 months: secure remote access and faster processing, central control of analytics, elimination of duplication, and full-data population analysis. Adoption now includes 10 analytics developers and 30 users, analytics expanded from 33 ad-hoc tests to 140 (with 300 expected within 12 months), and plans to equip most of the 200 financial auditors to run approved tests.
