Hostelling International USA (HI‑USA) is a nonprofit membership organization that once managed roughly 120,000 members and processed about 90,000 new memberships a year. After membership and revenue fell sharply post‑9/11, HI‑USA faced an unsustainable, labor‑intensive process because its legacy database wasn’t integrated with the website; to fix this they selected ACGI Software and its Association Anywhere web‑based AMS.
Working with ACGI Software, HI‑USA converted its data and went live with Association Anywhere in under 90 days, shifting joins and renewals to online self‑service. The result: roughly a 50% reduction in data‑entry labor (from five full‑time plus up to ten temps at peak down to three full‑time staff), processing time cut from five weeks to under 48 hours (members now receive cards in less than a week), and faster access for councils—delivering clear cost savings and improved member service.
