Nottingham University Hospital Reduces Wait Times by 50% with Digital Solutions

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of Britain’s largest acute healthcare trusts, faced long outpatient waits, manual patient registration and administrative bottlenecks in its phlebotomy clinics. The trust engaged ACF Technologies to deploy the Q-Flow® patient management system (Appointment Booking and Queue Management) to modernize check-in, queueing and appointment processes.

ACF Technologies implemented Q-Flow® kiosks, integrated the system with up to five million PAS records and automated labels and appointment letters, with further HL7-enabled integration planned. The solution cut patient waiting times by 50% during peak periods (with no waiting off-peak), reduced appointment abandonments and phlebotomist processing time, and provided workflow data to improve staff planning and resource allocation.
