Toyota worked with Ace Metrix to assess a Tundra ad that was relaunched in May 2010 after first airing in February 2009. The ad had scored significantly below norm in 2009, and Ace Scores showed that consumers were more concerned about value than about cooling systems.

Ace Metrix found that the ad, which featured a Tundra climbing in a hot desert to highlight its cooling system, tested above norm when the recession began to ease in 2010. The same spot that had underperformed in 2009 was better received on retest, suggesting that Ace Metrix’s scoring helped Toyota understand how changing buyer priorities affected ad performance.
