Nescafé worked with Ace Metrix after its team reviewed a new 0:30 commercial and felt the creative had drifted from the approved animatic. The ad seemed dark and aggressive rather than uplifting and energetic, so Nescafé wanted to understand how consumers would react before moving forward.
Ace Metrix tested the original ad with more than 500 consumers in less than 24 hours and showed that the spot had clear issues, including a 42 Emotional Sentiment score versus the brand average of 48 and an Attention score of 633. Nescafé used that data to request a revised ad, and Ace Metrix tested the new version with another 500-person panel; it earned an Ace Score 22% higher and an Emotional Sentiment score 43% higher than the first cut. Based on the results, Nescafé held back on $9.1 million in media spend and recognized close to $2 million in savings and efficiency.
