SmartNews leverages AccuWeather’s API and content to give readers the content they need, when they need it

SmartNews, an award-winning local news app, needed hyper-local, highly accurate weather data to give readers the timely information they rely on. To meet that challenge, SmartNews partnered with AccuWeather For Business and integrated AccuWeather’s API, RSS feed and MinuteCast® services to surface localized forecasts and weather content directly in the app.

AccuWeather For Business provided high/low temperatures, 12-hour hourly forecasts, minute-by-minute precipitation via MinuteCast®, radar, and trending weather articles and video, all integrated into the SmartNews header. The result is a best-in-class local weather experience—users can see, down to the minute, when precipitation will start and stop—improving situational awareness and helping readers better plan their day.
