Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is a local government agency serving more than 150,000 residents across 113 square miles in Oak Park and Simi Valley, operating parks, pools, golf courses and a wide range of programs with about 80 full‑time and 350 part‑time staff. The district was relying on an outdated, unsupported cash‑based accounting system that required extensive manual work—reporting, fixed‑asset tracking and depreciation in Excel, and paper requisition/PO workflows—making month‑end close difficult and risking noncompliance with GASB requirements.
They implemented AccuFund Online (via ComputerWorks NFP Solutions), a hosted fund‑accounting solution with ongoing support and intuitive user access. The system automated requisitions and purchase orders, integrated fixed‑asset tracking and depreciation, and enabled accruals and reliable, timely reporting. Operationally this saved an estimated 62.5 hours per month (about 750 hours per year) on POs alone, improved month‑to‑month reporting accuracy and timeliness, and ensured GASB‑34 compliance.
