This University Got Smart about Endowments and Allocations

SUNY Cobleskill is a residential baccalaureate college in New York whose separately managed foundation oversees 250 endowments totaling about $3M. The foundation relied on a DOS-based accounting system and Excel to calculate interest, gains, dividends and fees, creating a time-consuming, error-prone process for allocations, donor reports and state audits.

The college implemented the AccuFund Accounting Suite with the Allocations module, automating reconciliations and allocation calculations. The new system cut allocation processing from several hours to about 30 minutes, improved accuracy and reporting, provided a clear audit trail, and was adopted campus-wide for easier financial management.
