Lynn Economic Opportunity (LEO) is a 35-year-old community action nonprofit in Lynn, Massachusetts, with $7M in revenues and 120 staff providing housing, Head Start, daycare, fuel and emergency assistance. The organization was hampered by a commercial accounting system unsuited to nonprofit reporting: daycare billings couldn’t be tracked, fuel assistance required 200–300 manual checks each month, and staff relied on spreadsheets to manage cross-year grants and financial reporting.

LEO implemented the AccuFund Accounting Suite, completing primary setup in about a month with a redesigned chart of accounts, converted vendor/customer files, and integrated AP/AR for daycare, tenant billing and a separate fuel-assistance company. Automated billing notices, summarized fuel posting, and staff training enabled faster report creation (hours vs. days), better cash management and collections, and freed the finance team to focus on analysis and program oversight.
