The City of Cripple Creek, Colorado—a historic gold‑mining town turned tourist destination with a $10–18M annual budget—faced a forced replacement of its aging 1990s accounting software after the vendor discontinued support. With a two‑person finance team and existing AccuFund Utility Billing experience, the city needed a modern municipal accounting system that could reliably migrate legacy data, support utility functions, and reduce time‑consuming year‑end and reporting tasks.
In May 2014 Cripple Creek installed the AccuFund Accounting Suite with onsite conversion and training by BW Consulting. AccuFund streamlined accruals and reversals, eliminated the old post‑and‑roll year‑end process, improved reporting (Excel/PDF/email), tightened security controls, and sped accounts payable, producing productivity gains that save the city about 76 hours annually and better support managers and utility staff.
