A Accufund Case Study
Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District (MDAQMD) is a California government agency serving over 500,000 residents with an $8M annual budget. The District struggled with an outdated general accounting package that lacked fund accounting, forced them to split operations into multiple companies, relied on separate software for key functions, outsourced payroll and payables, and could not produce regular financial statements or efficient budgeting without extensive Excel work.
After evaluating options, MDAQMD implemented the AccuFund Accounting Suite to consolidate accounting, purchasing, budgeting, payroll and HR into one system and integrate with their permitting software. The change enabled in‑house check printing and job costing, regular financial reports, and major time and cost savings—budgeting time fell to two weeks (a 75–80% reduction), payroll outsourcing costs (~$7,200/year) were eliminated, payables costs dropped from $16,000 to $1,100 and processing time from three weeks to three days, audit time shortened from two weeks to four days, billing imports now take 10 minutes, and HR spreadsheet use declined about 70%.
