An Historic City Needed a Modern Accounting System

The City of Lewisburg, West Virginia, a historic county seat, was struggling with an outdated, non-Windows accounting system that required repeated entries, produced out-of-balance financials, and exposed the city to costly server failures (a prior outage cost about $60,000). The city put the system out to bid seeking a Windows-based, simpler, and more cost-effective solution.

Lewisburg implemented the AccuFund Accounting Suite through Mountaineer Computer Systems, deploying the Core system plus modules for payables, receivables, payroll, HR, utility billing and more for 10 users. The integrated system eliminated duplicate entries, sped up payroll (saving 5–6 hours per pay period), reduced monthly/quarterly reporting time by 2–3 hours, cut about an hour a day in general processing, and provided responsive support and inexpensive customizations—delivering significant time and cost savings.
