A Accruent Case Study

Case study about Iowa state working with Accruent.

When severe rain storms caused a nearby creek to overflow in the summer of 2010, many structures on Iowa State University’s campus became flooded, and damages were estimated at $40-50 million. In order to maximize their claims with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and collect charges early, Iowa State tracked the entire disaster electronically using Accruent’s FAMIS solution – and was the first to use a paperless reporting system with FEMA. Using FAMIS Capital Projects, Iowa State used parent and child project relationships to monitor work order and maintenance projects. With FAMIS, Iowa State could consolidate data, eliminate duplicate data collection, and ensure data integrity, saving the team thousands of labor hours. Tracking these labor hours was also simplified, as Iowa State could easily provide proof of hours to FEMA. FAMIS was also particularly helpful in tracking equipment rental and collecting purchase orders efficiently. The FAMIS electronic tracking system allowed Iowa State to generate and present all relevant reports to FEMA in a snap.
