Case Study: Zurich Airport achieves consistent, accessible engineering data with Accruent Meridian

A Accruent Case Study

Preview of the Zurich Airport Case Study

How engineering document management prevents data inconsistencies, helping ensure safe and efficient flight operations at this leading transport hub

Zurich Airport, Switzerland’s largest transport hub operated by Flughafen Zurich AG, manages infrastructure for more than 27,000 employees across 280+ partner companies and serves over 29 million passengers. The facilities team was overwhelmed by roughly 60,000 architectural plans: archiving was handled by just four people, inconsistent plan versions proliferated, and a proprietary AS/400 system proved unwieldy and inadequate for managing and tracking engineering data.

The airport deployed Accruent Meridian (implemented by Mensch und Maschine) with AutoCAD integration, configurable document types and workflows, automatic PDF renditions, revision/numbering controls, and role-based access. Implemented on time and on budget, the solution made data collection faster and more user-friendly, prevented inconsistencies, improved searchability and transparency, and increased accessibility and quality of engineering data while enabling future integration of other CAD disciplines.
