University of Bradford Modernises Finance Function With AccessPay for Seamless Processing of Payroll and Tuition Fees

The University of Bradford modernised its finance function to replace an aging, on‑site Bacs system that had compatibility and security issues. Finance Operations Manager Ben Petty selected AccessPay’s cloud-based digital bank connector (AccessPay Bacs software solution) to improve UX, flexibility and security for critical tasks like processing Direct Debits and payroll.

AccessPay connected the university’s payroll, accounts receivable and payable systems to Lloyds Bank, enabling 1,800 monthly salary Bacs payments (in three runs), tuition-fee Direct Debit collections of £7,000–£30,000 per month and regular supplier payment runs. AccessPay implemented a second‑person approval workflow, provided pandemic-era flexibility around Smartcard access, and delivered proactive, hands‑on support (including remote resolution of an HSM/Windows issue), ensuring on‑time payroll and smoother finance operations since going live in early 2018.
