Efficient Information Management Leads to Better Patient Care

Truman Medical Centers (TMC), a healthcare provider in Kansas City, needed a highly structured information governance program to bring order to a long-standing records operation. Access was brought in to help address the lack of visibility into boxes, files, and contents across departments, as well as the growing need to convert patient records to electronic format and improve records retrieval.

Access implemented a solution that combined records storage, scanning, secure destruction, and its FileBRIDGE Records software to index, catalog, and manage records in a controlled, permission-based system. The effort led to the proper disposal of about 1,000,000 patient records, or nearly 30,000 boxes, reducing storage costs by more than $5,000 per month while speeding up record identification, retrieval, and delivery.
