British Pipeline Agency (BPA) faced a clunky, hard-to-audit purchasing process and a slow, paper-based system for timesheets, expenses and absence that undermined management oversight and compliance. To address these issues BPA engaged Access Group, deploying their FocalPoint controls alongside Access Financials / Access Financials Operations to enforce purchasing procedures and digitise workforce administration.

Access Group implemented automated purchase controls (required quotes, notifications when lowest quote isn’t used, supplier vetting and mandatory health & safety questionnaires) and an online timesheet/expense workflow that flags errors immediately. The result is much greater senior-management visibility and accountability, faster authorisation and processing (replacing a week-long manual cycle with near real-time submission), improved supplier control and higher staff productivity.
