A Access Group Case Study
KLM UK Engineering, a Norwich-based Aircraft Maintenance Repair Organisation employing around 390 people, was hindered by a slow, unreliable connection to its Amsterdam mainframe that caused a 24-hour update lag, paper-based finance processes, poor visibility for non-finance staff, and difficulty meeting month-end deadlines. To tackle these issues KLM engaged Access Group and implemented the Access financial management software suite (including Access Financials and Access Workspace).
Access Group delivered an in-house, consistent financial management system and added modules for expenses, digital tax, project management and purchasing. The solution removed the update lag, digitised error-prone paper workflows, improved usability and company-wide visibility, and produced clear savings—KLM reports at least 2.5 days freed per month, month-end reduced to 1.5 days, and time-consuming tasks (e.g., a 2-hour payroll journal) condensed to a one‑button operation—yielding faster, more accurate financial data.
