Burts Potato Chips - Customer Case Study

Burts Potato Chips, a Devon-based crisps manufacturer with a £13m turnover and ambitions to grow to £20m, was hampered by fragmented systems: Sage Line 200 plus spreadsheets couldn’t deliver the finance, production reporting or barcoding control it needed, creating duplicated manual work and poor visibility. To address this, Burts engaged Access Group and chose the Access SupplyChain solution.

Access Group implemented Access SupplyChain (including barcoding, real-time stock control, MRPII, mobile data capture and payroll), giving Burts instant visibility of inventory and production. The system eliminated monthly stock takes—saving around £12,000 a year—improved stock accuracy to about 99%, cut month-end reporting time, reduced waste and despatch errors, and freed staff time for planning, helping future-proof the business and deliver measurable cost and efficiency gains.
