The Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), a major Australian multiplatform media organization, faced the challenge of better engaging its diverse, multilingual audience. They sought to evaluate adding interface languages and linear channels to their OTT platform to provide a more comfortable user experience for non-native English speakers. To meet these goals, SBS partnered with the vendor Accedo.
Accedo implemented a solution centered on comprehensive user research, including focus groups and user interviews, to understand audience needs. They integrated Chinese and Arabic language support with right-to-left presentation, ensuring a robust experience through thorough testing. As a result, numerous UX recommendations were implemented across all platforms within two months. Accedo delivered a dynamic and scalable solution that allows SBS to easily incorporate new languages in the future.
