Case Study: AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange) achieves real-time SLA transparency with Accedian Networks' 1GigE & 10GigE Network Performance Elements

A Accedian Networks Case Study

Preview of the AMS-IX Case Study

One of the World’s Largest Internet Exchanges Achieves Real-Time Performance Transparency

AMS-IX, a large neutral non‑profit internet exchange in Amsterdam, needed to provide SLA‑backed interconnects and transparent, end‑to‑end performance reporting as customers moved more infrastructure to the cloud. The exchange required precise measurements (Y.1731 OAM metrics such as packet loss, one‑way/two‑way delay and jitter, frame loss and uptime), 1GigE/10GigE support and microsecond‑level clock synchronization because short exchange links demand sub‑millisecond accuracy to detect issues.

AMS-IX selected Accedian 1GigE and 10GigE Network Performance Elements—FPGA‑based devices that deliver microsecond‑accurate, one‑way monitoring and open integration with AMS‑IX’s systems—and built a customer web portal that refreshes KPIs in real time (every 5 seconds, 1 minute for frame loss). The result is publicly available, real‑time SLA transparency for customers, stronger performance assurance, continued leadership in interconnection services, and support for ongoing PoP expansion.
