University of Illinois at Chicago - Customer Case Study

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) needed a better way to manage scholarships across 13 colleges and departments, since awards were handled with different tools and processes and students had no single place to find opportunities. With more than 27,900 students and over 520 scholarship funds, UIC turned to AcademicWorks to support a more centralized, FERPA-compliant scholarship management program while improving access for high-need students.

AcademicWorks implemented a common platform that still let each college keep its own scholarship workflow, while giving UIC campus-wide oversight, online application review, and easier access to current candidate data. The results were strong: by the start of year two, 11 of 13 colleges were using AcademicWorks, more than 50% of students submitted thank-you letters and photos immediately through the system, and UIC created a campus scholarship portal called UIC SnAP that made scholarship information easier for students and faculty to find.
